Pierre Soubeyran graduated in medicine from the University of Bordeaux in 1989.

After a research position in Haematology and Laboratory Medicine at the MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Houston, he received his PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Bordeaux in 1996.

He was appointed as Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Bordeaux in 2006 and is the Head of Clinical Research and Coordinator of the Haematology Research Group at the Bergonié Cancer Institute
